Launched in 1958, TidyTowns has rapidly developed to
become Ireland’s most well known and popular
local environmental initiative. TidyTowns encourages communities to
improve their local environment and make their area a better place to
live, work and visit. While TidyTowns is a competition, the
emphasis has always been on participating rather than winning as the
very act
of participating benefits the community. The success of TidyTowns has grown
over the last 50 years; with
a record 720 entrants received in 2009.
Repak has been a sponsor of TidyTowns since 2003 and are delighted to continue this sponsorship into 2010.
Repak sponsors two awards in the annual TidyTowns event; the ‘Regional Award’ and the ‘Best Presented Bring Bank Award’.

Winner of the Repak sponsored 'Best Presented Bring Bank Award' in 2009,
Tallanstown, Co. Louth
The ‘Best Presented Bring Bank Award’ attracts a prize of €1,000 for the winner in each region and takes account of presentation, placement and utilisation by the local community in its evaluation. €1,000 is also awarded to the best bring bank overall.
The ‘Regional Award’ is awarded to the top scoring entrant in each section, of which there are seven, and it attracts a prize of €2,000 to each winner.
To enter the 2010 Tidy Towns competition you can log onto the TidyTowns website, call the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government on 053 911 7347 or email tidytowns@environ.ie.
