Repak’s Ode to Christmas will take place today on South King Street from 4pm. Percussion group MaSamba will be performing favourite Christmas songs using only instruments made from recycled materials. This is all part of Repak Green Christmas which takes place between 23rd December and 5th January in an effort to encourage Irish householders to make a special effort to recycle the additional packaging around Christmas time.

The 9th Repak Green Christmas was launched today (Monday 21st Dec ‘09).

As households around the country wrap their presents and stock up with extra food and drink Repak is asking people to keep a green eye on the extra 75,000 tonnes of packaging from biscuit tins and beer bottles, to toy boxes and wrapping paper that could be recycled.

Repak aims to collect and recycle 48% of the Christmas packaging waste generated over the holiday period. It is estimated that a massive 75,000 tonnes of packaging will be generated by Irish householders this Christmas.

We have set up a Repak Green Christmas page to help you to recycle more and recycle better this Christmas. There are handy Christmas recycling hints & tips, information on Christmas tree recycling, Christmas opening hours for recycling centres and all our latest Christmas photos, videos and radio ads in the media gallery. To keep you busy we have also prepared some colour in sheets.

recyclemore.ie wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2010.

Peter Donegan, landscaper and designer of the Repak Recycling Week Glass House Garden has compiled a list of his top 20 Green Influencers to follow on Twitter.

We were delighted to read that Repak was listed along with other Irish and international people.

Peter picked these 20 for the way the communicate and interact with their followers. They are happy for a two way conversation to place and like to get and respond to the feedback of others. It’s great to see Green Influencers using Twitter in this way, rather than just pushing information out.

Keep up the good work.
