This is a further example of local authorities getting out of waste business. Having extracted themselves from the waste collection market many years ago, limerick LA’s are now investigating disposing of their 80 acre landfill site in Gortadroma, even though this is cash generator for them. Now the few LA’s left in the waste business appear to be lining up to exit. With Dun Laoghaire County Council and Cork County council selling their customers to private waste contractors.
